There has been much field work on golden eagles in summer 2010, 4 satellite transmitters organised by Highland Foundation for Wildlife have been fitted to young eagles in the Cairngorms National Park (and 5 elsewhere in Scotland – which will be tracked on the HFW website). Natural Research, eagle field research headed by Ewan Weston have fitted a similar number and the RSPB have satellite tagged three young eagles in the Cairngorms National Park area.
The eaglets satellite tagged and track by the Highland Foundation for Wilidlife in the Cairngorms National Park are now online. Cullen and Strathy are eaglets from the same nest on Strathspey Estates, and details of each chick are given in their web page. Lee was tagged in the Angus Glens and details are given on the webpage. The 4th eaglet managed to remove its transmitter (must have had a pair of scissors), which we recovered and will be used next summer.
Young eaglets tagged with Scottish Natural Heritage funded transmitters by Natural Research and RSPB are due to come on line soon.
